Dynamic mics will be needed for next week and these mics are basically a speaker in reverse with a coil which moves around
For recording the mics we will need are:
AKG 112 flat sounding should used to record the bass drum
The Sm57 and Sm58 can be used to instruments they are dynamics and very robust.
Also ribbon mics are fragile can be used as overhead and pencil mikes are overheads as well and are for high hats as well
Large diaphragms condensers often have either 3 different patterns inside either a figure of 8 which takes in sounds from a loop on both side omni pattern is taking sound from the hole room and cardioid is taking sound from one side of the mic.

Pencil omni condensers produce a more open sound, so ideal for capturing the sound of a room. And because of this they produce a more live and open sound.
Every picture is described below the picture explained.

The picture above is a sub kick this uses a Ns10 speaker cone in the drum shape to record the bass drum. It can pick up those frequencies lower than a normal mic can.

These mics above are large diaphragm condenser mics for recording vocals
These have 1 or 2 discs inside them for different sounds they have polar pattern of mics front or back sounds

These condensor mics are for drums they also run on 48 volts like most and even though they are needed for drums they cant go in the kick drum hole because they wont work for that task.

Ribbon mikes are very fragile, but fairly rare due to their cost.
Ribbon mikes can go up to £2,000 pounds and even more
They also have a baco like foil in them and also a magnet and the metal foil captures the sound when it hits the sheet of foil you also cant use these mics for loud sounds

These are sm57 and sm58 the one with the grey ball is the sm58
These are both designed to record vocals and can be instrument.

Pencil condensers produce a more realistic sound.
These mics are good to record high hats
And also run on 48 volts like all condensers. (Phantom Power)

Dynamic kick drum mics are big and they pick up the lower frequencies because the bass drum picks up the lower sounds.
The drums that are being mic’d up here are 1st 2nd tom , floor tom and snare. The mics which are recording them are called condenser mics
The holder that is being used for the mics are specifically for toms because of the angling so they don’t get in the way whilst you are playing them.

These mics which are positioned above the drum kit are acting as overheads to get the whole drum kit sound and these mics are called pencil condensers. Note that there are also two omni’s in the room to grab all the sound being emitted from the kit in the practice space.

There are three mics being used for the bass drum because it’s one of the most difficult pieces of equipment to record . The mics that are being used are the sub kick which uses a ns10 speaker and is the brown circle which sits directly outside the bass drum hole. The second mic is a dynamic kick drum mic which is inside the kick drum and then theres a mic which is sitting outside the drum to pick up the reverberation.

The mics underneath are a sm57 Dynamic and then the bigger one is a condenser and these are used to make they sound more full and to pick all the sound up and they are recording a guitar amp in this picture. The reason we use two mics is simple. A dynamic capture the warmth and the mid ranges. The condenser picks the accuracy of the high end and depth of the bass. By combining both we get the best of both worlds.

For my recording I recorded voice , guitar and cajon,
When recording cajon I used a pencil mic to record the front to get the slap sound from my hands when I’m playing and to record the back hole I used a d112 to record the depth and the base
Furthermore when recording the guitar I used a ACG451 condenser on the neck of the guitar and a large diaphragm mic on the body.
And a dynamic mic to record the voice because it has the best frequency.
These mics are what are typically used for recording vocals
All the factors of the mic showed in this picture make the mic have a sound driven electrical generator. And this means they are the best to record voices, because they unlike the condenser mics they don’t pick up all the sound in the room your recording in.
So without its ability to pick up surrounding sounds it’s in turn able to focus more on the voice . As a result you get a clearer and more focused sound.

This is an example of a pop shield which would be used when record vocals
And the picture below is off the pop shield i used when recording my single.
