Best way to record acoustic guitar using 1 and 2 mics

This example is using a stereo pair of directional condenser microphones in a cross over pattern

because its directional its only picking up sound in its path so having it in a cross over means you can pick up from two areas of the guitar.

In this example one mic is pointing at the twelfth fret and the other is pointing at the sound hole.  The sound hole picks up more Bass and the 12th fret is more top.

In this example Pete thorn who is a very respected musicians and video maker in the youtube community is only using one microphone to record his guitar.

The reason he does this using a mono technique instead of stereo is because when recording guitar for a song where there are lots of different instruments such as rock or pop songs you don’t want the guitar to pop out as much as you would for when its just a guitar and vocals.

The mic he’s using is a large diaphragm which is good to take in the whole sound from the guitar.

SUMMARY OF RESEARCH

What is BBC Introducing?

BBC introducing is an online platform which allows undiscovered artists from the uk to realise their song in an easy and effective manor. It is a place to upload your music and get it heard by people in the region that you live. For example, i would upload my track to BBC introducing and it would be picked up by the people who look for new acts in the South West.
